The golf course was originally a sand course that has been transformed from barren desert to luscious grass fairways. It is an oasis of color, with scenic lakes, fountains and indigenous wild birds inhabiting this beautifully manicured course. Set within the circumference of both stunning grass and sand horseracing tracks, the golf course is an intriguing course of nine holes that offers nightly flood lighting and different tee positions, creating an 18-hole, par 70, 6,395-yard little gem. Access to the golf course is gained via a tunnel an engineering masterpiece that runs beneath the racetrack. Challenges of water come into play on four of the nine holes, with testing dog-legs left and right and an enormous par-five, 630-yard eighth hole, where skillfully designed water hazards cross the fairway and immediately come into play. Surprisingly for a nine-hole course, there are only two par threes, namely the fourth and the seventh holes. There are four tee positions on each hole, which presents an interesting challenge for the most accomplished golfer.
The Golf Academy, managed by PGA Professionals, includes a driving range, chipping and putting area, golf club repair facility and a social coffee shop and bar.
The Academy boasts a personalized computer-aided, state-of-the-art teaching studio. Individually tailor-made tuition packages are available to suit every level of golfer, which includes the Junior Golf Academy for young golfers ages 8 to 14.
The Clubhouse offers excellent service in the luxurious Spike Bar, with a large television screen and full range of international beverages. The elegant fine-dining restaurant offers an interesting and varied menu of professional, classically prepared international cuisine. The panoramic views from the restaurant overlook the beautiful floodlit golf course and racetrack and are quite enchanting. The patio outside provides the perfect setting for themed evenings and weekend barbecues. It also provides exciting dining during the Arabian and Thoroughbred horseracing events. Imagine an enchanting winter evening in the Arabian outdoors and the thrill of excitement as you watch your favorite champion racing for the ultimate victory over the line! Upstairs, there is a fully equipped banquet and boardroom, with elevated views overlooking the course. It is an ideal venue for private entertaining and corporate hospitality.
The Pro Shop, situated within the clubhouse, is one of the best equipped in all of the Emirates. It has an extensive range of golf equipment to suit all golfers’ requirements, including clubs, bags, shoes and beautiful designer golf wear.
Social sports for members and guests include a large Jacuzzi and swimming pool, three floodlit tennis courts and professional equestrian riding school with international indoor and outdoor show jumping arenas. The Abu Dhabi Golf & Equestrian Club provides and completes this Arabian sporting experience.
